Wet clay (white) 30" wide 17" tall 13" deep An original work, it is a representation of a dragon, with the element of horror. The idea is to make the viewer feel unsettled. The multitude of eyes on the head shows that this creature belongs to something repulsive and lethal. It was for that reason that it was designed to look unearthly, suggestive of a demon or an alien.
Head of ShenLong
Wet clay (white) 18" wide 20" tall 36" deep This is a handmade replica of a Chinese dragon, attributed to the "Dragon Ball" franchise it stems from. It shows my ability to sculpt very accurately from a reference photo.
Spiral Crown
This is a metal crown made from raw metal and was forged in a metal shop. It was created by bending and welding metal to make a sharp and rugged spiral shape. It is painful to wear the crown, as it was designed to simulate the burden on a ruler who feels the weight of the world just by wearing the title of “King”.
Self Portrait
This is a metaphysical self-portrait of myself. It is made from cloth, metal, twine, and wood. It was created by first crafting a metal endo-skeleton and nailing it onto a wooden platform. The cloth and clothing were then draped over the skeleton. Finally, metal prongs were slammed into the spine of the sculpture and held together with strings and cloth. This piece represents my Catholic faith.
Diary Codex
This is a wooden sculpture created by merging and nailing multiple wooden slabs together. The characters on the wooden tablet were created by using a laser cutter. The sculpture is inspired by the tablets used by natives in the Polynesian islands to record history. Various objects were nailed onto wooden tablets. One would touch the objects and feel the texture to ‘read’ the history. My version of the tablet uses characters developed by me with a code inspired by Chinese calligraphy. It tells one significant event per year during the first eighteen years of my life.
